The ASO:
- is an organization that was established to provide students the opportunity of participation in the development of student leadership skills.
- assist in the promotion and development of individual student organizations.
- provides students representation in all areas, including, but not limited to issues affecting students and the community.
- works in cooperation with administration on all levels of student government, including, but not limited to, Academic Senate and community organizations

- Registered students of Los Angeles Mission College College who pay the $7 A.S.O. fee
